Working within constraints of rigid bushfire safety norms along with the very specific demands of the clients Field Office Architecture managed to craft a masterpiece on the side of Mount Macedon! Dubbed this unique and striking contemporary home combines smart architecture with eco-sensitive design to fashion a living environment that is both relaxing and captivating. To minimize impact on the lot and to give those inside a wonderful view of the bushland and beyond the residence sits partially on stilts and has a cantilevered façade.
A neutral color scheme defines much of the interior with large wall art additions bringing in some much needed color. It is the dining room that acts as a transition zone between the interior and the small rear yard even as the living area and kitchen sit at the front.
Connected with the yard using stackable folding doors the living area kitchen and dining sparkle with marble radiance and refined aesthetics. Adding to this glint are additions like the Moooi Random Light that steals the show in the living room and the space-conscious dining table that is an extension of the kitchen island.
Use of large dark windows with dark metallic frame gives the Aussie residence a subtle industrial vibe; an idea that is enhanced by the occasional presence of the exposed brick wall. But still the interior feels strictly contemporary (with a fun twist) and the kitchen and dining space on the lower level continue this theme.
Smart architecture is all about adapting to the landscape even while flawlessly serving the needs of those residing within a structure. It is a delicate balance that is enhanced by elegant aesthetics and contemporary overtones.
