It is amazing how jaded life makes us as we grow older and the fascination that we have for little things seems to fade away all too soon in the real world. Yet some things remain constant like our love all things that fly high in the air and a desire to find a quiet lonely nook that takes us away from the rush of the world.
Then you also have the charm of a revitalized interior that is filled with a flood of natural light. The gorgeous is another perfect case in the point as a glazed contemporary rear extension completely alters this classic British home. The task of giving this dreary residence a new lease of life fell upon UVArchitects who added the rear extension as a transition zone between the existing home and the small rear garden.
The new house was inspired by the rich mining and agricultural heritage of the region and a gabled roof with its distinctive charm epitomizes this look. Two different units carefully stacked next to one another shape the fabulous and tranquil retreat with the living area kitchen and dining on the top level and the bedrooms on the lower floor.
A series of gardens courtyards and rooms create the lower level of the house that contains the living spaces with the top floor holding the bedrooms. It is white stained cladding that gives the house a unique façade and also filters in sunlight without completely opening up the home.
The street façade of this polished contemporary home sets itself apart from others thanks to a gorgeous brick wall and design that seems to combine contrasting textures with ease. It is this bold and yet seamless blend of different elements that resonates throughout the house making it both inviting and inimitable.
